I found myself pulling pieces with browns and reds as I felt into the quintessential grounding colors of deep spices and hand-woven Turkish tapestries. Every time I tried to bring in a vibrant print, it interrupted the mood, the vibe, the “moment”…so, I stuck with the more earthy tones. Not to fret, there is a pop of blue in there :)

Can you really go someplace like Turkey and not wear something to repel the evil eye? I love the playfulness of this Leslie Amon coverup…they designed it without it being too kitsch. The brick red skirt (also comes in a bone color) is the ideal beach to lunch to popping in-and-out of the market coverup. The cage sandals could be replaced with a rubber or jelly flip-flop if beach bound, but these are perfect for pool, daytime, or throwing in your bag as an easy way to elevate your fit if needed. The one piece can easily be traded from bathing suit to daytime top, and the accessories are easy peasy.
These looks are impeccable for elevated dinner looks without being over the top. Honestly though, both these looks could be worn daytime (the dress would need a flat and an oversized raffia tote). How good is the structured scalloped edge of the black SAME top by the way? Oh, and the could-easily-be-Dries-Van-Noten dress is actually Massimo Dutti and under $300. My take on high-low dressing is that a good quality shoe changes the game, as does creative jewelry like the silver twist necklace or the ever-so-simple yet outfit-making marble necklace. The sac bag by Le Nodo is the cherry on top.
I kept finding one off pieces where I thought to myself, “This is so perfect for Turkey”, so I decided to make a roundup. This chunky evil-eye ring brings a little more edge to the typical evil-eye delicate jewelry. Raffia ballet flats like these La Double J ones are all the rage for summer — the mustard tie gives it more character. I LOVE the muted tones and size of the raffia striped tote, and wait until you see the detail on the sleeves of the Antipodien light blue dress. The rest: Mango bangles, Cala de la Cruz dress, Johanna Ortiz one-piece, terrycloth coverup.
